On Nov. 2, 2015, good news came from 2015 International Bio-molecule Design Competition (BIOMOD), SCUT-CHEM team of South China University of Technology (SCUT) won the Gold Award (7/40), and simultaneously gained the Best Wiki and Best YouTube Video individual awards. The SCUT-CHEM team was guided by Prof. Jianqiang Hu from the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering of SCUT and Prof. Aiqing Li from Nanfang Hospital of Southern Medical University and their doctoral candidate team. This project, named as The Magical Band-Aid , aimed at the repairment of glomerular filtration membrane (GFM) and treatment of chronic kidney disease through fabricating novel self-assembly materials similar structure to GFM with porous and negative charges. \"\" (Project photos) The project is a multi-interdisciplinary frontier subject of chemistry, materials science, biology and medicine etc., which also has a strong innovation and great challenge. Moreover, its research findings will have great application prospect. Thus, we built a cooperative and innovative team enjoying a wide variety of talents, which is led by School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering and supported by six schools including School of Food Science and Engineering, School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering, School of Bioscience and Bioengineering, School of Design, School of Electronic and Information Engineering and Nanfang Hospital. All members cooperated with absolute sincerity, did their best and reached the acme of perfection from the project design to experiment, to web wiki and video productions and live shows of presentation.
