BBI Solutions/Prostatic Acid Phosphatase//P116-1
Prostatic acid phosphatase (PAP), also prostatic specific acid phosphatase (PSAP), is an enzyme produced by the prostate. It may be found in increased amounts in men who have prostate cancer or other diseases. Prostatic Acid Phosphatase is stored in lysosomes and functions when these fuse with endosomes, which are acidified while they function; therefore, Acid Phosphatase has an acid pH optimum below 7.0.
