Adiponectin Antibody Description

\"\" Background Adiponection antibody detects human adiponectin. Adipose tissue of an organism plays a major role in regulating physiologic and pathologic processes such as metabolism and immunity by producing and secreting a variety of bioactive molecules termed adipokines. One highly conserved family of adipokines is adiponectin/ACRP30 and its structural and functional paralogs, the C1q/tumor necrosis factor-alpha-related proteins (CTRPs) 1-7. Unlike the CTRPs, which are expressed in a wide variety of tissues, adiponectin is reported to be expressed exclusively by differentiated adipocytes. These proteins are thought to act mainly on liver and muscle tissue to control glucose and lipid metabolism. An analysis of the crystal structure of adiponectin revealed a structural and evolutionary link between TNF and C1q-containing proteins, suggesting that these proteins arose from a common ancestral innate immunity gene. It is present in high levels in normal human plasma, but is reduced in obese subjects and often in those with increased insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes, suggesting that adiponectin may be a useful pharmacological target in various metabolic diseases. Anti-Adiponectin antibodies are ideal for investigators involved in glucose engery metabolism and apolipoprotein research. \"\" Synonyms ACDC, ACRP30, APM1, GBP28 \"\" Immunogen Adiponectin Antibody was produced from whole rabbit serum prepared by repeated immunizations with a peptide from near the c-terminus of human adiponectin. \"\" Immunogen Type Peptide \"\" Storage Condition Store vial at -20° C prior to opening. Aliquot contents and freeze at -20° C or below for extended storage. Avoid cycles of freezing and thawing. Centrifuge product if not completely clear after standing at room temperature. This product is stable for several weeks at 4° C as an undiluted liquid. Dilute only prior to immediate use. \"\" Application Note Anti-Adiponectin Antibody is suitable for use in E,WB, and IHC. Expect a band approximately ~26.4 kDa on specific lysates. Specific conditions for reactivity should be optimized by the end user. \"\" Purity/Specifity Anti-Adiponectin Antibody was affinity purified from monospecific antiserum by immunoaffinity purification. A BLAST analysis was used to suggest cross-reactivity with Adiponectin with Human, Mouse and Rat based on 100% homology with the immunizing sequence. Cross-reactivity with Adiponectin from other sources has not been determined. \"\" Disclaimer Note-General This product is for research use only and is not intended for therapeutic or diagnostic applications.
