Description:
Alkaline Phosphatase, CalfIntestinal (CIP) nonspecifically catalyzes thedephosphorylation of 5´ and 3´ ends of DNAand RNA phosphomonoesters. Also, CIPhydrolyses ribo-, as well as deoxyribonucleosidetriphosphates (NTPs and dNTPs). CIP is useful inmany molecular biology applications such as theremoval of phosphorylated ends of DNA and RNAfor subsequent use in cloning or end-labeling ofprobes. In cloning, dephosphorylation preventsreligation of linearized plasmid DNA. The enzymeacts on 5´ protruding, 5´ recessed and blunt ends.CIP may also be used to degrade unincorporateddNTPs in PCR reactions to prepare templates forDNA sequencing or SNP analysis.Product Source
