The company provides laboratories worldwide with instruments, equipment and expertise. Monash Information Technology s Department of Human-Centred Computing (HCC) is working with Agilent Technologies to design effective mixed reality workspaces. Mixed reality involves the merging of real and virtual worlds to produce environments where physical and digital objects can coexist and interact. HCC is at the forefront of research into user-interaction for such immersive technologies.Agilent s customers are located at great distances, therefore, the time taken to get an engineer or applications chemist on site to train or assist customers with repairs can be days. Monash IT researchers are working with Agilent to develop a mixed reality platform which can allow Agilent to train their customers to use their equipment remotely. It would also allow Agilent to provide immediate customer support without the need to send engineers.
