Toprovidethislevelofconvenience,NationalDiagnosticsstreamlinedtheoriginalmethodofShaggarandVonJagow(1987Anal.Biochem166)bydevelopingTris-Tricine-SDScathodetankbuffertobecompatiblewiththestandardLaemmligel/buffersystem.Thiscombinationresolvesproteinsassmallas5kD.TheresearchersimplysubstitutesNationalDiagnosticsTris-Tricine-SDSintheupper(cathode)tank,withnootherchangesfromstandardLaemmliprotocoltoextendtheresolutionoftheirgels.
