Ebola virus disease (EVD), formerly known as Ebola haemorrhagic fever, is a severe, often fatal illness in humans. EVD outbreaks occur primarily in remote villages in Central and West Africa, near tropical rainforests where humans come into contact with dead infected animals such as fruit bats, monkeys and antelope. The virus can then spread from human to human. According to WHO, EVD outbreaks have a case fatality rate of up to 90%. Ebola first appeared in 1976 in 2 simultaneous outbreaks, one in Nzara, Sudan, and the secondin Yambuku, Democratic Republic of Congo, in a village situated near the Ebola River. This is where thedisease takes its name. Applications: |Suitable for use in ELISA, Western Blot, and Immunoassays. Other applications not tested.Recommended DilutionOptimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.Storage and StabilityMay be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.Note: Applications are based on unconjugated antibody.ImmunogenFormalin inactivated Ebola virus (strain Zaire).FormSupplied as a liquid in PBS, pH 7.2.
