Interleukin 17A (IL-17A), a pro-inflammatory cytokine, that belongs to a family of six cytokines; IL-17A, IL-17B, IL-17C, IL-17D, IL-E (also known as IL-25) and IL-17F [1]. IL-17A binds a heterodimeric receptor (IL-17RA/IL-17RC), which recruits the adaptor Act1 leading to TRAF6 ubiquitylation, triggering a signaling cascade that results in NF-kB activation, a key regulator of innate immunity [2].
